Summer Gymnastics Camp FAQs

Thanks to everyone who purchased camp sessions! We look forward to spending the summer with your children. Below are some questions that we’ve had about camp and how everything works.

Q: If I purchase multiple camp sessions do I have to use them on consecutive days?
A: You may split your individual sessions into as many different times as you would like. If you purchase our 1/2 day week special for $109 or our all day, all week special for $199 they must be used in consecutive Monday-Friday order. We offer 2 sessions a day: 8:30am – 1:30pm and 12:30pm – 5:30pm and camp runs from June 7th – August 23rd, (closed 7/4)  Monday – Friday.

Q: Do I have to pay a registration fee for camp?
A: We NEVER charge a registration fee for Best Gymnastics Camp.

Q: Can I just drop my child off or do I need to reserve a spot?
A: You need to reserve a spot at least the night before, but the earlier the better!

Q: How do I enroll in the sessions?
A: The most convenient way to enroll is online. Select the “Customer Login” link from the main menu and then select “New Customer Registration”. Fill out the information and then select the “I don’t know my password” link from the existing customer login page. You’ll be emailed a password and then you can select your sessions from your student account. You can also give us a call (972-874-8800) or stop by the gym if you’d like to enroll in person.

Q: Do I need to send any food or snacks with my child?
A: If your child attends the morning session, you’ll need to send a lunch. You may also send money for the snack or drink machine or any additional snacks your child might like. We do provide snacks during both sessions (fruit snacks, pretzels, goldfish, etc.), but if your child would like something else or has a specific food allergy, you can send whatever you like. Please note any food allergies in the medical notes section when you register your child.

Q: Is gymnastics camp just free play for 5 hours?
A: No. We do provide open gym time at the beginning and end of the session, but the rest of the camp session is organized into gymnastics and game rotations where the child will move with their camp group.

Q: How do you divide the students into groups?
A: We divide the students based on age, depending on how many students are enrolled in each session. Camp groups have a 12:1 student/coach ratio.

Q: Will my 10 year old son have fun at camp?
A: Absolutely! Camp is quite active, and we play lots of games and have a lot of physical challenges, especially for our older students.

We look forward to seeing you at gymnastics camp this summer, and if you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to stop by the gym or give us a call at 972-874-8800.

Skin Health for Summer

World Class Athlete Program | Photo by Tim Hipps, FMWRC Public Affairs

With the summer approaching soon, all the best athletes are likely to be exercising in warmer and sunnier conditions. With this change in exercise environment, there are a few precautions that should be taken to ensure that athletes maintain safety while training and competing. From exercise alone, our bodies are exposed to a heightened core body temperature. Exercising in a hot environment can further promote and increase the risk for potential health issues which include dehydration, heat stroke or possible skin cancer.

With May being National Melanoma/Skin Cancer Awareness months let’s take a look at the “skinny” on nutrition for skin health. Fitness and nutrition not only affects our inner health, but also our outer beauty. Components known as free radicals can damage skin cells causing skin to appear dry, dull, or damaged. Foods high in antioxidants and vitamins C, A, and E can combat these nasty free radicals. Below are a few tips in consuming healthy, high antioxidant foods.
